With 5 of 5 precincts reporting, the special election to fill the vacancy for the unexpired term of Place 3 River Oaks City Council: Dan Dagel---318 votes (23.96%); Sherrie Uptmore Dast---514 Votes (38.73%) & Darren Houk---495 votes (37.30%). In the event no candidate in a race receives a majority of the votes cast, pursuant to the River Oaks Charter Section 7.10 “Runoff” there shall be a runoff election held in accordance with state law. Pursuant to Election Code § 2.023 “Runoff Candidates”. (a) Except as provided by subsections (b) and (c), the candidates in a runoff election are the candidates who receive the highest and second highest number of votes in the main election or who tie for the highest number of votes. Unofficially it appears that without a clear majority of votes for a candidate in the election for Place 3 City Council Member; once all votes are canvassed the end result should be a runoff Election being held on December 11, 2018 between Sherrie Uptmore Dast & Darren Houk.
